Gustavo de Carvalho Figueiroa is a Brazilian biologist and environmental communicator, serving as Director of Communication and Engagement at the S.O.S Pantanal Institute. A specialist in Wildlife Management and Conservation, he is also pursuing a postgraduate degree in Public Science Communication. Gustavo has played a frontline role during the catastrophic Pantanal wildfires of 2020, 2021, and 2023—coordinating wildlife rescue, firefighting, and field-based communication. He is a co-founder of GreenBond, a communications agency focused on conservation, and previously contributed to the Instituto Butantan, Onçafari, and São Paulo’s park system. A recognized “Verified for Climate” champion with the UN and Purpose, he works to counter climate disinformation and mobilize public action for biodiversity and biome protection across Latin America.
