Thilmeeza Hussain

Thilmeeza Hussain is a distinguished Maldivian diplomat, climate advocate, and gender equality champion. She served as Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations (2019–2023), High Commissioner to Canada, and Ambassador to the United States. She was also appointed Special Envoy to the President of the UN General Assembly. Beyond diplomacy, she co-founded Voice of Women, a pioneering Maldivian NGO focused on climate action, human rights, and women’s empowerment. Hussain previously taught as an adjunct professor at Ramapo College and held roles in civil society networks like the U.S. Climate Action Network. She holds an MSc in Business Management from Colorado Technical University and a BCom from Murdoch University.
